Te One Science House, Te One, Chatham Islands
This magnetometer is our most remote magnetometer, located on the Chatham Islands, roughly 800 km to the East of Christchurch. This installation is be possible thanks to the aid of the Otago Museum and the Te One Science House on the Chatham Islands. The connection to this site can be temperamental, due to the unstable power infrastructure on the island – we utilise a UPS device to ensure uninterrupted data coverage, however on occasion the 4G network will go down preventing data transmission; this data is not lost, but may be delayed in its retrieval. This site is also mildly contaminated by electric fence noise. On occasion, we will lose power to this site even with the UPS device – see the Outages page for more information on these periods of missing data.
