Install date:11 October 2021
Notes:

Our Awarua magnetometer is kindly hosted by Space Operations New Zealand at their satellite ground station at Awarua, just out of Invercargill. The data quality from Awarua is generally good, with very good uptime — as SpaceOps has given us a dedicated line, we do not suffer from 4G outages as at our other sites. There are a few predictable transients that are present in the raw data from Awarua, which we remove with post-processing. See the Documentation for more information on these transients, and the removal process we use. Note that due to a hardware failure, the Z-component of the Awarua magnetic field data is unusable for the first half of 2023 – the X- and Y- components were not affected by this failure. For more information on this data outage, see the Outages page.
